To all our fans,
Last year was an excellent time for the Manitoba Junior Hockey League.
A couple of highlites come to mind:
Dauphin hosting the RBC Cup which was a tremendous success both on and off the ice. Fan support was tremendous....just as we knew it would be. On the ice, the Dauphin Kings had a tremendous season, highlited by winning the ANAVET Cup, and a trip the RBC final.
A number of players from our league also gained national exposure. A pair of Winnipeg Blues were selected in the NHL draft: Peter Stoykewych and Brendan O'Donnell. In addition, many of our graduating players have gone on to higher levels of hockey. Good luck to all of them!
As the 2010-11 season launched, we saw two new facilities come into the league: MTS IcePlex in Winnipeg, home of the Winnipeg Blues, and the PCU Centre, home of the Portage Terriers.
Our league continues to strive to improve for you: our fans!
I'd also like to take this opportunity to thank all our sponsors who support the 11 teams throughout our league. As we all know, it takes considerable financial resources to operate an MJHL franchise, and thanks to the help of our business community this is made possible.
In closing, thanks to you, our fans....the success of our league depends on you. You cheer on your favourite club...support your favourite players....And our teams thank you for this support.
Yours in hockey,
Commissioner Manitoba Junior Hockey League
