Veteran Dauphin King forward Shane Luke has been named the RBC Player of the Month.
Luke, 20, was a key offensive contributor for the Kings, as he collected a total of 14 points (5-9) in six games in December. The defending MJHL points champion has 19 goals and 57 points after 37 games and currently sits tied atop the scoring race with Selkirk Steeler forward Colan Jackson.
Runners-up for the RBC Player of the Month honour were Jon Gaudet, 18, of the Winnipeg Saints and Richard Olson, 18, of the Neepawa Natives.
Sher-Wood Hockey Defenceman of the Month
Winnipeg Saints’ veteran defenceman Jordan Davies has been awarded December’s Defenceman of the Month honour. The 20-year-old blueliner not only played outstanding defence in his zone, but also contributed in the scoring department with 10 points (3-7) in seven games for the Saints, who currently sit second in the Addison Division with 23 wins and 47 points after 41 games.
Davies held a hot stick on the powerplay, reflected in four points (1-3) while the Saints enjoyed the man advantage.
Runners-up for the award were Brennan Ritchie, 18, of the Steinbach Pistons and Colin Fay, 19, of OCN Blizzard.
MJHL Goaltender of the Month
Veteran netminder Matt Krahn continues to be outstanding in the OCN Blizzard net. The Winnipeg native enjoyed an outstanding December, reflected in his 5-3 record and 1.98 GAA. The 20-year-old gave up only 16 goals on 247 shots on goal last month.
Krahn’s overall record this season is 12-8-1 for the Blizzard who sit third in the Sher-Wood Division with 22 wins and 47 points after 39 games played.
